The late sixties ushered in the need for police officers training course nationwide because of the demand for improved police personnes service.  Baguio Tech (now University of Baguio) opened the Bachelor of Science in Criminology course in June 1967, then under the College of Arts and Sciences. The course had become popular and had been attracting many enrollees.  This spearheaded the establishment of the College of Criminology as a separate college form the College of Liberal Arts in 1982.

It was in 1974 when the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Police Science were recognized under Government Recognition No. 11, s. 1974.  The College of Criminology presently enjoys the benefits of Level II accredited status granted by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA)

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) report on Criminology board performance of the top Criminology schools throughout the Philippines indicates that the UB College of Criminal Justice Education was ranked number one (1) in national standing from 1992 - 1996.

The College of  Criminal  Justice  Education aims to provide the community with   competent,  moral  and  professional  graduates  who will efficiently  and  effectively  deliver  service  in the fields of Criminology Education, Criminal Justice System, Public Safety Administration, Correction and Penal Management and Basic Community Policing in Law Enforcement Administration.
