The UB Teachers College was formally organized in June 1950 in answer to the pressing need for trained elementary school teachers in the 50's. Classes were held at the main building along General Luna Road until 1971. later, in 1973 to 1980, calsses were reassigned at the Gym. From 1981 to 1989, calsses were held at the main building, which gutted by a big fire in june 1990.
In May 2001, the College was transferred to its new site - the former Refuerzo Building. The faculty and students were more happy to be in its new site, a two story building which they can call their own.
The College of Education started working for accredidation status in 1974. The UB Teacher Education Programs: BSEED and BSE earned accreditation status in the school year 1976-1977. It is the first Teachers' College to be accredited by the Philippine Association of the Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).
