During the early '80s, UB Administration realized that the students should learn and know more about computers to keep abreast with the fast-paced technological advancement and breakthroughs provided by computer technology. Hence in 1983, The University Computer Center (UCC) was created. In the early 1990s the UCC was transferred to the College of Commerce, and in 1993, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) was offered, as authorized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
After 7 years with the College of Commerce, the department was transferred to the College of Engineering. In 1991, under the Technical Department, the two-year Computer Technician (Comp. Tech.) course was offered. This department specialized in teaching the students on how to repair computers and its parts. The following year, the three-year Computer Technology course was offered. It focused on computer programming. All its technical courses are accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
In 1996, under the College of Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCoE) was offered. The University of Baguio became the first educational institution in Baguio City to offer the course.
In the year 2000, the Computer Science Department of UB, was recognized as the Virtual Center of Technology Innovation – Information and Communication Technology (VCTI-ICT) for Oracle, Java Programming by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). In the same year, it became a CISCO Networking Academy. In 2001, the University of Baguio gave birth to a new college, the College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) under the leadership of Engr. Lakan-asa R. Bautista.
