About the UB Debate Society_

The University of Baguio Debate Society was established in January 2004, as a full-fledged student organization geared towards the promotion of rationality and independence of thought espoused within the art of debate and argumentation.

As one of the founding members of the Northern Luzon Debate Council (formerly the Baguio Debate Council), it has contributed greatly to the ardent support of debate in the region. A young organization as it may be, it has already been hosting several of the biggest local debating competitions, some of which include the PRB Cup, FGB cup, as well as the recently concluded Luzon Leg of the IUDC. It has participated in a wide range of events such as the IIDC, Ateneo IVS, and the National Debate Championship.

The organization in its continual pursuit of excellence, has dedicated itself to fostering a culture of intellectual discourse on issues of general concern, both national and international. It has stayed true to the ideals set forth at its inception, and the hosting of the most prestigious 8th National Debate Championship serves as yet another great honor attributed to the zeal of the organization in upholding the art of debate.
