A University of Baguio (UB) lass was crowned as the first-ever Miss Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League (BBEAL) at the UB gym last March 1.
Myle Anne Costales, a third year BS Hotel and Restaurant Management student of UB, charmed the crowd during the pageant proper, further dominating the competition by picking up the Best in Talent, Best in Sports Wear, and Best in Evening Gown awards.
Asked about her weakness during the final question-and-answer, she was forthright and candid in her answer: “Everyday I encounter lots of problems – problems which I find hard to solve. But I take every problem as a challenge and set my mind that such challenges are here to make me strong and better, and that every mistake I did in the past is not meant to describe me.”
“My mistakes are the reasons I become better and stronger,” added Costales, who is also the reigning Ms. UB School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM), Ms. UB, and Ms. Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio.
Meanwhile, Jerold Dominguez, also a third year BSHRM student of the UB-SIHTM, landed as Mr. BBEAL third runner-up and Mr. Smart Texters’ Choice.
Dominguez finished as first runner up in the recent Mr. and Ms. SIHTM and Mr. and Ms. HRAB.
The event wrapped up the 27th season of the BBEAL – the biggest collegiate sports league in Northern Luzon.
Costales will compete in the Mr. & Ms. Private Schools Athletic Association pageant slated next month in Tagum City, Davao.
The UB representatives are under the supervision of Alvin Cecil Micu, UB’s pageant coordinator, and Eduardo Laureano, director of the UB Athletics Office.
