Students from the University of Baguio (UB) School of Dentistry showcased their skills, knowledge and competitiveness in a national case presentation competition organized by Dentsply Philippines – a division of the American dental equipment maker and dental consumables producer Dentsply, which markets its products in over 120 countries – held in Makati last October.
Five clinicians from UB – two seniors and three juniors – qualified as finalists in the said competition. Nika Jane Aguilar’s entry, “Indirect Composite Onlay”, and Kadelyn Joy Bangiacan’s “Direct Composite Bridge” were included in the top seven finalists in the Ceram-X Case Contest held Oct. 16.
Meanwhile, junior clinicians Kim Sungmin’s entry, “Hypertaurodontism Root Canal Therapy”, Jung Junyoung’s “Management of Fine and Curved Canal” and Kim Chanyang’s “J-shaped Canal with Waveone” were among the top seven finalists in the Clinical Endodontic Case Contest held last Oct. 20. Kim Sungmin finished at the second spot.
Finalists in the endodontic case contest received endodontic kits.
The UB team agree that it “was a very good learning experience which helped boost our confidence and equipped us with new skills and knowledge which we can use in our future profession.”
“The clinicians are thankful to the UB School of Dentistry family for the support, especially to our coaches and mentors, Dr. Grace Basuel (Ceram-X Case Contest and Clinical Endodontic Case Contest) and Dr. Joylane Cuntig (Clinical Endodontic Case Contest).”
