A University of Baguio (UB) student is among this year’s Ten Outstanding Political Science Students of the Philippines (TOPSSP), a nationwide search that recognizes the country’s most exceptional political science students.
Rose Chell Anne Rojas, a senior BA Political Science student of UB, ranked second in the roster of awardees that were honored during the Annual Political Science Students’ Convention held at the Cebu Normal University, Cebu City on Feb. 11-15.
An active student leader in the University, Rojas has been elected into different posts in UB’s Political Science Organization. She also held posts in her community, being a member of the Sangguniang Kabataan, among others. She has an impressive academic record, being among the top performing students in her department. She was also a parliamentarian in the 10th National Youth Parliament – a gathering of young leaders that tackles drafting of resolutions on critical issues that concern the Filipino youth – held in Manila in May last year.
Two other UB students also made it as finalists. Ferdinand Tamulto and Joseph Kum, also senior Political Science students of the University, finished as 11th and 13th, respectively.
A consistent dean’s lister, Tamulto has been appointed as one of the members of the UB Student Parliament. He also sat as one of the parliamentarians during the 10th National Youth Parliament.
Kum, on the other hand, is the current prime minister of the UB Supreme Student Council. He, too, is always on the list of academic scholars.
Last year, UB’s Sheema Valdez made it to the line-up of the 10 TOPSSP awardees.
The TOPSSP is an annual search organized by the Political Science Students’ Association of the Philippines.
