Nathan Cheng, a sophomore BS Education student of the University of Baguio (UB), finished second in the Caramoan 10K Swim Challenge held in Albay, Camarines Sur last Aug. 21.
Cheng finished the swim in three hours and 13 minutes.
“It was quite a challenge, but it was fun. I still have jelly fish stings,” Cheng said.
The open water swimming event was participated in by around 350 swimmers from the country and abroad. It is the longest swimming event in the country to date.
A BBEAL (Baguio-Benguet Educational Athletic League) medalist, Cheng currently heads the UB swimming team. He is also the team captain of the Baguio Penguin Swim Club. A swimmer in high school, he has competed in Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand among others.
