The Iconic Blue Jeans
BELLE, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN PSYCHOLOGY
When you mix sports and glam, you get Belle.
Belle plays for the volleyball team of the University of Baguio. At the same time, she occasionally walks the runway for local designers.
But the regular Belle spells laid-back and casual.
On her style, she’s proud about not being a trend geek, and is quick to rebuff the idea that being stylish equates to being a girly girl. “I’m not the girly type,” she says.
“I can be in my sneakers everyday.”
Belle says you can be stylish however you want. What’s important, she says, is that you’re comfortable. “Comfort and style can go together,” she says.
Shoes are her favorite style item. “Shoes say a lot about someone’s personality,” she says.
She is on the romantic side of things.
She’s up for anything Nicholas Sparks (“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” is also a favorite of hers) and she binge-watches “Till I Met You”).
Apart from James Reid (she’s probably the biggest fan), her current obsessions include blueberry cheesecake and chicken. Interesting combination right there.
Oh and her style icon is Cara Delevingne (!!!).
STYLE TIP FOR THE WEEK
Jeans are without a doubt the most iconic fashion piece our generation has the privilege of wearing and styling. Although there is a rise in new trends which include the brightly colored ones, we still go back to the classic – the blue jeans.
The blue jeans gained popularity in the ‘60s, with teens embracing the item as a rebellious statement thanks to the original bad boy James Dean. Heavy references to the timeless piece have been written in songs. From princesses to rockstars, the classic item has endured the changing winds of fashion.
Fast forward to now, the blue jeans have evolved into many forms – ripped, cut out, boyfriend, acid wash, skinnies, oversized, etc. Numerous ways to style the iconic item have also emerged, like this week’s featured style, which seems everybody’s favorite these days.
Now this week’s get-up is a great outfit for a typical active college school day. It can get a little challenging putting together an outfit that is both comfy and fashionable, so wearing really good pieces that suit your body type and flatter your shape is key. Ever wonder why you feel so good walking around in your favorite pair of jeans? It’s maybe because you’re wearing something that accentuates your frame, which instantly boosts the confidence. Now match that fine pair of jeans with a plain or ornate top, not forgetting to complete the ensemble with sneakers.
Always make time to edit your outfit by throwing on an accessory (like a watch), a jacket or a scarf. It all depends on your mood and the crazy weather, two factors that are always clashing but that’s a different story.
