The Bachelor of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering program recognizes the importance of sanitary engineering in the protection and preservation of the environment as well as in the promotion of the health and well-being of the general public. The groundwork of student preparation is based on acknowledging the fundamental competencies required of the undergraduates to assume the specific roles of professionals in nation-building in the future.

 

Graduates of this program are expected to acquire entry-level competency at par with those of the neighboring countries in the region by utilizing curriculum structure and methods that would cater to national and international settings. The curriculum shall not only lead the students to increase their knowledge and skills on the basic concepts and principles but also expose them to current trends of practice of the profession in the design, construction, management, and evaluation of sanitary engineering programs and projects. The program shall likewise emphasize techniques to nurture and sustain competency through individual and institution-based continuing education activities and transfer of entrepreneurial and managerial attitudes and skills.


PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Within five years after graduation, graduates of the Environmental and Sanitary Engineering program have:

1.    formulated plans and designs in the focus areas of environmental and sanitary engineering;

2.    acquired the technical knowledge and skills in the various fields of environmental and sanitary engineering;

3.    actualized a morally and ethically upright professional conduct;

4.    applied research studies in the various fields of specializations;

5.    practiced environmental sensitivity and responsibility; and

6.    exhibited distinct capability in the field of environmental and sanitary engineering.


PROGRAM OUTCOMES

By the time of graduation, students of the program shall be able to:

a.    apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve engineering problems

b.    design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data

c.    design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability in accordance with standards

d.    function on multidisciplinary teams

e.    identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems

f.     understand professional and ethical responsibility

g.    communicate effectively

h.    acquire the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context

i.     recognize the need for an ability to engage in life-long learning

j.     know contemporary issues

k.    use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice

l.    know and understand engineering and management principles as members and leaders in a team to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments
