In the University of Baguio, the Department of Political Science is the bastion of political education. Since its founding in 1999, the Department has taken the lead in raising political awareness among the University’s stakeholders.
The Department consists of 10 academic sections, making the study of political organizations, movements, and processes more organized. It also provides students curricular opportunities to develop close academic relationships with the faculty members through research advising, event organizing, and conference paper presentations. This set-up enables us to provide our students an intradisciplinary yet multidisciplinary educative process.
The BA Political Science (BA PS) curriculum aims to develop in the students the ability to critically evaluate shifting social conditions and interrogate prevailing political postulations while empowering them to confidently articulate their views. Therefore, we put high value on analytical thinking, political inquiry/research, effective communication, and academic excellence because they speak of how our students diligently handle designated tasks and hurdle the rigors that the curriculum carries. As a testament to this, student achievers have earned public speaking, debating, leadership, and academic awards in and out of the University.
