Duties and Responsibilities

Director for Management of Information Systems (DMIS)

  1. To supervise the centralized Management Information Systems (MIS) of the University.
  2. To advance the learning of UB students through proper dissemination of information.
  3. To strengthen UB students’ knowledge on theories by using equipment in laboratories through hands-on activities.
  4. To provide all UB students and employees access to the Internet for knowledge-enhancement and communication.
  5. To provide necessary systems for internal procedures for prompt and concise gathering of data.
  6. To make accessible all necessary data to the UB personnel for easier decision-making.
  7. To provide UB faculty with adequate computers to aid them in making lessons, syllabus and encoding of grades.
  8. To update UB personnel with current technology through publications, seminars and trainings.

Computer Technicians Office (CTO)

The UB- Computer Technicians Office (CTO) handles acquisition, installation and maintenance of all computer facilities, including the campus-wide network and other related equipment in the University.

The office evaluates requests of the administrative offices and colleges regarding computer hardware and software requirements and recommends the appropriate computer system. The office is tasked to acquire and upgrade the software to support the services to the University and to maintain the inventory of computer supplies and related software manuals. The office also generates the report requirements of the MIS, department units, and the academe.

Systems Management Office (SMO)

The UB-Systems Management Office (SMO) designs, develops, implements, and evaluates computer-based information systems. These services come in the form of implemented computer-based information systems and enhanced manual-based systems as requested by the academic/administrative units to facilitate their operations.

The main objective is to fully automate University processes and integrate all University information systems. To design, implement, deploy and maintain quality automated information systems, and evaluate these systems annually.

Systems  / Network Administration Office (SNAO)

Provide the IT infrastructure and support services to the University. Ensure that the university have a complete IT infrastructure with 99.9% annual uptime or better.

Note: 99.9% uptime means a maximum of 8.76 hours of annual unscheduled downtime. This excludes downtime due to hardware and software upgrades, preventive maintenance, and the like.
