VALERA FARLAND (Custom)Mr. Farland Valera is currently the Chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of Baguio. Prior to this, he was appointed as head of the Department of Social Sciences & Humanities from 2010 to May 2012. He obtained his BA degree in Political Science and his MA in College Teaching with specialization in Political Science from UB in 2004 and 2008 respectively. At present, he is a PhD in Development Education candidate at the same University.

He was a student affairs practitioner in UB from 2004 to 2005 and also served as adviser of the Baptist Youth Organization, the Foreign Students Association, the Debate Society, and the Supreme Student Council. Since June 2005, he has been a fulltime instructor at the Department of Political Science where he handles courses in Public Speaking & Debating, Philippine Government & Politics, Political Behavior, Foreign Policy & Diplomatic Practice, and International Relations.

He serves as undergraduate research English editor at the School of Information Technology and regularly sits as undergraduate research examiner in the BA Political Science, BA English, BS Psychology, and BS Criminology Programs. He also advises undergraduate researchers in the BA Political Science, BA English, and BS Psychology Programs.
