The main purpose of the study was to determine the motivating factors of the students to enroll in the College of Education and the reasons behind their choice of their field of specialization. The 187 respondents from the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students under the new curriculum were asked to rank the factors, the fields of specialization and the reasons. Using the descriptive-survey method and with the data gathered from the respondents, the following were the major findings: The primary reason of students from all the year levels for their specialization is “my own decision;” the students do not strongly look at career guidance and location of the school as among the motivating factors; friend’s influence, it is a difficult subject and it is an easy subject are not among the reasons for choosing their major field of specialization. Overall, the Education students had the freedom to choose their own career path as they have not been strongly influenced by outside forces.
