With theme “UBian Leaders: Overcoming Challenges, Embracing Changes, Sustaining Excellence,” the University of Baguio held its 13th Student Leaders’ Summit at the RCB Dome on May 17-18.
The activity utilized the format of the Leadership Communities (LeadCom) program of the Ayala Corporation which aims to promote servant leadership and develop, inspire and empower young Filipinos.
The first day started with Amado Orden Jr., director of the UB Office of Student Affairs, discussing the activity’s theme where he highlighted the characteristics, values and attitudes that UBian student leaders should possess. Invited facilitators from LeadCom Baguio-Benguet took over after Orden’s talk, dividing the participating student leaders into groups and conducting various activities aimed at developing social skills.
On the second day, the student leaders were immersed into challenging activities designed to further develop their leadership skills.
The annual activity serves as training ground for student leaders of recognized and accredited student organizations of the University. It serves as an avenue to inspire and empower students to be better and responsible young leaders of the community. – Jameson Bayan (BSEd 3), Raquel Macaullay (BSHRM 3), Cariza Mae Ferrer (BSTM 2), and Marilyn Tomilas (BMLS 3)
