The participants listened to the talk on community engagement.
With the theme “Capacitating Leaders: The Role of Educators in Community Development and Engagement,” a talk on community engagement was participated in by around 50 University of Baguio (UB) instructors and facilitators on Sept. 18 at the UB Centennial Hall.
Engr. Eleazer Demayo, president of the UB Alumni Foundation, Inc., served as the resource speaker. In his talk, Engr. Demayo, who handled government projects involving community development, shared his experiences on working with communities. He grouped the participants and gave them cases of community concerns to work. Objectives, time frame considerations, strategies and resources were covered in the workshop. A representative from each group then presented the group’s output at the end of the session. Comments, reflections and insights were noted.
The activity, organized by the Extension and Community Outreach Services office, aimed to strengthen voluntary participation among the faculty members of the University.
Engr. Eleazer Demayo suggested the involvement of the participants in the seminar preparation. He said their involvement during the organization process, even in small ways such as assuming a task under a particular committee, such as food committee, is already engagement in itself.
