With the theme “Regenerating UB’s Community Commitment: Volunteerism and the Role of Academic Instruction,” a seminar on community outreach involvement was held at the University of Baguio (UB) Centennial Hall last April 5.
Dr. Leonarda Aguinalde, vice president for administration and the outreach point-person of the University of the Cordilleras, served as the resource speaker.
Dr. Romer Tanyag, director of the UB Extension and Community Outreach Services (ECOS) Office, also presented the UB-ECOS agenda at the event.
The seminar, organized by the UB-ECOS Office, aimed to further encourage volunteerism in the academe through involvement in outreach activities. Outreach is one of the tri-focal functions of higher education institutions.
Participants to the seminar included student leaders, outreach coordinators, directors and heads of UB’s different offices, UB deans, UB vice-presidents, including UB president Engr. Javier Herminio Bautista.
The activity is under UB’s outreach program called “UB CARES” or Community Advancement through Responsive Extension Services.
