A representative from the Regional Development Council discusses the salient provisions of House Bill 5343 or

“Act Establishing the Autonomous Region of the Cordillera”

Weeks ahead of the May 2019 elections, a forum which tackled the concepts of election and autonomy was held at the UB Audio-Visual Room last April 13.

Over 50 students from the University of Baguio (UB) participated in the said forum, which included a discussion on the responsible use of social media during elections. The importance of the right to suffrage was also underscored.

The proposed Cordilleran autonomy was also highlighted in the forum, where a brief history of the Cordillera region was presented, including the preparations being done to come up with an autonomous form of Cordilleran government.

The activity was held in collaboration with the UB Supreme Student Council, UB School of Law, and the UB School of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. – Mc Grethorne Candoy and Kali Yantrel Martin
