Seventy-five Criminology interns and four Forensic Science interns from the University of Baguio (UB) attended the seminar dubbed “Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terrorismo” held at the CDRRM Office, Lower Rock Quarry, Baguio City last March 29.
The said seminar is one of the programs of the Philippine National Police which aim to involve the youth in fighting drug use and terrorism. A lecture on terrorism was given by PLTCOL Armando Gapuz, chief of the Baguio City Police Community Affairs and Development Unit, PG II Dexter Jay Rodriguez, and PIO Rose Sarmiento.
Meanwhile, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 or Republic Act 9165 was discussed by representatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR. Moreover, PMAJ Divina Mencio, former regional chief of the Women and Children Protection Desk, talked about Filipino values and culture as well as patriotism and nationalism.
The activity was organized by the Baguio City Police Office in coordination with the UB School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety through Benjamin Dulipas, intern coordinator and Forensic Science program chair.
Students from Baguio Central University and the University of the Cordilleras as well as members of the Sanggunian Kabataan of the different barangays of Baguio also attended the event. – Clifford Justo
