Slots are now up for grab for the Student Loan Program for Tertiary Education (SLPTE).
The program is open to qualified student borrowers enrolled in state universities and colleges, CHED-recognized local universities and colleges and private higher education institutions listed in the registry of institutions and programs.
An initial maximum amount of PhP 60,000 can be loaned, which may be used for tuition and other school fees, books, tools, equipment, stipend, and/or for license exam fees. No interest will be charged if the borrowed amount is paid within one year from the date of loan approval.
The application deadline for the first batch of applicants is on August 15, 2019. Interested University of Baguio students may look for Ms. Rowena Sungduan at the Student Accounts Office.
The loan program, which is being implemented by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), is one of the programs under Republic Act 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which has PhP 1 billion allocation for AY 2018-2019.
