The University of Baguio (UB) School of Nursing (SON) won two awards at the 10th Fusion: Music and Dance Festival held at the UB Gym last March 22.
SON joined three of the six categories at the event – vocal solo, vocal duet, and battle of the bands.
SON’s Amiel Gatchalian and Sheevani Sibayan finished as champions in the vocal duet category with their version of the song “Till My Heartaches End,” an original by Arnee and Sean Wong.
Meanwhile, Gatchalian’s rendition of “Buwan” – which was originally sung by Juan Karlos Labajo – landed him in the second runner-up spot.
SON also competed in the battle of the bands, finishing fourth among the 11 participating bands. The SON band performed IV of Spades’ “Mundo” and a mash-up of Rivermaya’s “Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo” and “Ulan.”
In last year’s competition, Sibayan was a participant in vocal solo and vocal duet and was champion in both categories. – Rhauzen Jean Hizon
