UB finishes as 2nd runner-up in nat’l quiz bee

The University of Baguio (UB) team finished as second runner-up in the Council of Management Educators and Professionals in the Philippines (COMEPP) Quiz Bee dubbed “Search for the Best Management Team” held in Davao City last Sept. 26 – 28.



Nhelmore Marcelino, Sarah Mae Dewayen, and Rhodora Marto from the UB School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) secured the title after contending against eight teams during the competition.



The quiz bee was participated in by the top three winners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao who were chosen during the elimination round held in first week of September.



The quiz bee covered topics in marketing, operations, financial management, economics, human resource, and entrepreneurship. It included both theories and computation.



The competition was held alongside COMEPP’s 29th national convention, which aimed to promote the use of technological advances in teaching and learning business management as well as to empower educators to enhance their strategies in motivating the students as future professionals.



Students and representatives of member schools across the nation attended the said convention. Two seminars were conducted during the first day of the convention, which included the topics “Innovative Start-ups” by Atty. Salvador Belaro Jr. and “Business Management: Driving Innovation, Teambuilding, and Cultural Improvement in  Becoming Better Educators” by Engr. Marl Ferenal.



A seminar was likewise conducted on second day of the convention, which was highlighted by a talk on technological advances and e-commerce by Singaporean businessman Kuoo Shiaw Xun.



The election of officers for COMEPP and the Business Management Association of the Philippines followed after the seminar. Maria Veneranda Campos of the UB-SBAA, who served as the coach of the UB participants, was elected as one of the board members of COMEPP.
