UB hosts nat’l tourism skills olympics, convention

Now on its sixth year, the League of Tourism Students of the Philippines (LTSP) Skills Olympics was hosted by the University of Baguio (UB) last Feb. 3, gathering the country’s major universities and colleges.


The event, which had the theme “Traveling Together: Connecting the World”, covered the following competitions: international flight attendants’ showmanship, destination photography, international destination diorama, international tribal costume presentation, international cultural dances, tourism quiz bee, sing and dance, Mr. and Ms. LTSP, convention planning, entrepreneurship and business planning, destination marketing, international virtual tour guiding, international tour package proposal, tourism slogan and poster making, and travel feature article writing.


The Lyceum of the Philippines University won as the over-all champion; Far Eastern University and Saint Louis University finished as first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.


The competition was held alongside the Tourism and Hospitality Students’ Convention graced by Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer Cesar Montano.
