The University of Baguio (UB) finished fourth in the iMake History Fortress Architecture Scale Model Inter-School Competition held last March 19 at Fort Santiago in Intramuros, Manila.
UB architecture students John Harvee Alos, Jaytex Kant Natividad, Keithleen Dumling, Genera Bitaga and Richelle Betguen created a Lego model of the iconic Intramuros landmark Ayuntamiento de Manila. The model placed fourth among the other participating universities and colleges from across the country.
The model was reproduced at a 1:100 scale, made with 70% special architecture bricks provided by LEGO Education (part of the Denmark-based Lego Group). It is currently on display at the Baluarte de Santa Barbara Chamber in Fort Santiago, the first history-based LEGO Education center in the world.
The competition aimed to promote the built heritage of Intramuros, a historical walled site whose discovery loosely dates back to the 14th century. It was organized by the Department of Tourism – Intramuros Administration in collaboration with the Royal Danish Embassy – Manila and Felta Multimedia, Inc. – Divina Ligaya Rillera and Ryan Benaoe
For the competition, the UB team created a brick model of the Ayuntamiento de Manila, a historical landmark in Intramuros.
