UB secures major spot in YMCA Academic Olympics

The University of Baguio (UB) secured the first runner-up spot in the YMCA Division Academic Olympics held in the city on Sept. 26-27, 2015.


The following students picked up major awards in the different academic and literary-musical competitions during the event:

Catherine Gantan (SEA) – Champion, Drawing Competition

Maria Bernadette Bascos (SLAHS) – 1st Runner Up, Vocal Solo Competition

Zsan Kathreen Anne Botiwey (SIHTM) and Nelvic Poblete (SLAHS) – 1st Runner Up, Vocal Duet Competition

Rochelle Giana Cancino (SIHTM), Franklin Jan Wayang (SBAA) and Charlie Yang-eo (SBAA) – 2nd Runner Up, Quiz Bee Competition

Christine Bayudao (STE), Manilyn Wandag (SNS) and Christine Joy Dato (SLAHS) – 2nd Runner Up, Bible Quiz Bee Competition

Karl Paolo Claveria (SBAA) and Jairizon Talavera (SBAA) – 2nd Runner Up, Dance Competition


Other UB students who participated were Rick Jason Aquino (SIHTM) for Extemporaneous Speech, Junalyn Budomo (SIHTM) for Oratorical Speech, and Freddie Adop Jr. (SBAA) for Essay Writing.


Gantan, being the division champion in the drawing competition, advanced to the regional level held on Nov. 14-15, 2015 and again finished as champion. She competed at the national selection held in Manila on Dec.5-6, 2015. – Zsan Kathreen Anne Botiwey

Zsan Kathreen Anne Botiwey is a sophomore BS Hotel and Restaurant Management student of the University of Baguio.
