Dayanara Villanueva, a fourth year Accountancy student of the University of Baguio, finished as the champion in the Management Accounting and Controlling Cup held during the Annual National Convention of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) in Tagaytay City last May 1-4.
Villanueva outperformed the 42 other contestants from other colleges and universities from all over the country, securing the top spot.
The competition was sponsored by the audit firm Punongbayan and Araullo. Meanwhile, the convention was sponsored by Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.) in coordination with NFJPIA.
Activities that showcased the participants’ non-academic creativity and leadership potentials were also conducted. Likewise, character-building opportunities were covered.
NFJPIA has more than 30,000 members all over the country. It “works consistently to keep its members abreast of issues and trends that promote professional development,” operating under the idea that accountancy is of massive significance to the global business industry.
