UB stude receives silver medal in nat’l journalism competition

Kali Yantrel Martin, a senior BS Business Administration student of the University of Baguio, received a silver medal in sports writing during the 13th Word Cup National Conference held in the city last April 13-14. 



Martin, who majors in human resource development management, likewise finished as an honorable mention in editorial writing.



Campus writers and school paper advisers of student publications of the different colleges and universities in the Philippines gathered for the two-day seminar-workshop, which featured some of the country’s notable journalists as speakers.



Lectures and competitions in news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, science writing, copyreading and broadcasting were also included in the event.



Moreover, a press conference themed “The Philippines’ Global Initiative to Decongest Cities” was held, featuring PhilTrak chief executive officer Francis Yuseco.



The event, which seeks to “deliver pragmatic solutions to public affair problems,” was organized by the Word Cup Associated Editors Co., an organization established in 1994. –Kali Yantrel Martin
