The University of Baguio (UB) bagged major awards and recognitions at the 15th Regional Midyear Convention of the Region I and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Council of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) held at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City last Sept. 25- 27.
Kevin Fabros, Dayanara Villanueva and Franklin Wayang were declared champion as a team in the Audit Case Challenge. Sherry Mae Saxton and Marc Glendel Valdez also finished first and second, respectively, in the Meet the Standards quiz bee while Jefferson Locloc secured the second place in Practical Accounting 2: Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting.
Saxton was likewise awarded second place for her slogan “The youth within is a treasure, hidden and waiting to be found” and was awarded Most Outstanding JPIAN for excelling both in academic and non-academic events.
Meanwhile, Wynette Poblete clinched the fourth place in Auditing while Melissa Alvez secured the fifth spot in Business Law and Taxation.
Moreover, Graciela Mitz Quibuyen was hailed “Miss Ambassador of Goodwill.” In addition, Miraclene Moltio landed first in essay writing while Angela Cauilan won first place in the President’s Cup. Furthermore, John Paul Siodacal and Franco Caoili settled third in extemporaneous speech and Lip Sync Battle, respectively.
The JPIA UB Chapter was also named Outstanding Local Chapter in Academics.
Fabros, Villanueva, Wayang, Saxton and Quibuyen will represent Region 1 and CAR in the National Midyear Convention on Oct. 27-30 in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. – Dexter John Dacayanan and Sherry Mae Saxton
