UB wins major awards in accounting confab

Students from the University of Baguio School of Business Administration and Accountancy snared top spots at the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) Region 1 and Cordillera Council Annual Regional Convention held in Rivermount Hotel and Restaurant, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte on March 2-4.


Arvince Dylan Tabamo and Franklin Jan Wayang secured the first place in the Officers’ Encounter Quiz Bee while Dexter John Dacayanan, Sherry Mae Saxton and Jefferson Locloc landed second in the Search for Regional Accounting Wizards. The three also won the third place in the Management Advisory Services Case Study.  In addition, Saxton finished fifth in the Master in Taxation Quiz Bee.

Moreover, Saxton and Dacayanan settled at the second spot in the Otaku Quiz Bee. Locloc and Wynnett Poblete won fourth in the same event. Likewise, Friam Camson and Hanna Angway clinched the second spot in the Bible Quiz Bee while Wayang and Camson landed fourth in the Music Playlist.


Meanwhile, Dacayanan was presented the Most Outstanding Local Chapter Officer award for his “unending support to the organization and excellent performance and service in providing members an environment where one can harness skills toward academic excellence and social awareness.”


The convention, annually organized by NFJPIA R1 and CAR, includes both academic and non-academic competitions. The academic competitions cover CPA board subjects. Dexter John Dacayanan and Sherry Mae Saxton
