Understated
MAYNARD, BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTANCY
Ever wondered how men in understated ensembles manage to still look dapper?
In this week’s post, we get a glimpse of how they do it. So let’s break it down, shall we?

(Editor’s Note: We celebrate the bond shared by siblings with this post. Maynard has been inspired and continues to be inspired by his brother in terms of creatively expressing himself and his individuality.)
A dapper, understated look is built on muted tones and simple, crisp pieces.
White-washed tops and camel chinos, like what our guy here is wearing, are staple pieces.
In putting together an understated, sharp casual ensemble, choose one item that gives a pop to the whole look.
In our guy’s ensemble, the tie did the trick.
Our guy’s tie, which is of Cordilleran ethnic pattern, gives accent to the whole look, a smart preference in casual dressing.
Every guy plays a particular sport. Okay, this is arguable. But somehow most guys do play, and whether you’re headed to the court or to the gym or you’re out to watch a pal play, you should be in the loop, literally. Bottom line: The understated way of getting it on is throwing on a monochromatic ensemble. It’s downright simple yet stylishly hip.
Understated dressing is the cornerstone of elegance. It is a crucial element in looking stylish without looking contrived.
It’s a synonym for simplicity, the style rule which we can’t seem to emphasize enough. xx
